We welcome you. Exactly as you are.

The time is now. Jump in.
We will catch you.
ALL bodies, identities, abilities and experience levels welcome. Always!
Is this YOU?
I tried going to a yoga studio, and just didn't feel comfortable. This is very common because most western yoga studios are built for a specific kind of client in mind. One who already "looks the part" (youthful, slender, white, bendy/fit, with fancy yoga pants.) At Wild Ember, we know that yoga is for ALL bodies. We welcome all races, ethnicities, gender expressions, orientations, body shapes/sizes, experience levels, abilities/disabilities, ages, and socio-economic status. We are a radically inclusive studio, and we want you to experience that when you practice with us.
I have always wanted to try yoga, but I feel too intimidated to walk through the door. We get it! It can be super intimidating to start something new, especially if you haven't been very active, or believe that you are somehow not suited for yoga. The nice thing about virtual yoga is that you don't have to leave the comfort of your own space. You simply need to log in, say hi, and do your own thing. You can take things at your own pace, and make your practice magnificently YOURS.
I've watched random yoga tutorials over the years... how is this different? There can be a great benefit from watching yoga videos, and our members absolutely love having the flexibility to watch our recorded classes on their own time. That being said... there is nothing like interacting with a LIVE teacher! Our teachers get to know you, what you are working on and where you need to modify. They are constantly customizing classes to accommodate whoever is in the room. We cap our classes at 18 people, to ensure our teachers are tuned into YOU. In addition, practicing in community with others, keeps you motivated. Committing to a class time on your schedule keeps you accountable.
I am an athlete, and I am so tight! I know I should stretch, but I'm WAY too inflexible for yoga. You arrived at this page for a reason. You've heard before that yoga can help your tight muscles and your sore back. You've heard that yoga can improve performance in your sport. So what's holding you back? What if you had never gotten on a bike, because you believed you never would have strong enough legs to move the pedals? It doesn't matter if you "suck" (which you don't) when you start, what matters is that you start! You do not have to be flexible to practice yoga. In fact, people that are hyper mobile have their own set of challenges when if comes to yoga. In your yoga practice, you will have opportunities to stretch tight muscles, as well as strengthen underused muscles (hello, cross training!), and gain balance that will improve performance in your sport/s. You will also explore slowing down, which for some folks, can be the biggest challenge of all.
I am not sure what kind of yoga to take. Which classes on your schedule will be right for me? As you may have noticed, there are many different kinds of yoga asana (the physical practice of yoga) out there. At Wild Ember, we practice vinyasa, gentle, slow, chair/supported, restorative yoga, and meditation. We also have barre and fitness classes. When you come to your wellness consult we will help you figure out which classes will be right for you.
